. Joseph Sebarenzi, GOD SLEEPS IN RWANDA: Quotes.

 - Dorothy Thompson: " Peace is not the absence of conflict but the presence of creative alternatives for responding to conflict, alternative to passive or aggressive responses , alternatives to violence."

The peace of president Habyalimana regime was a negative peace... Although Tutsi were physically safe, they were discriminated against and treated as second-class citizens.

 - John F Kennedy: "Mankind must put an end to war, or war will put an end to mankind"

- Michel  Brown : " Many ethnic and internal conflicts are triggered by self obsessed leaders who will do anything to get and keep power. They often incite ethnic violence of most horrific kind for their own political ends."

- The paradox of "victory" in divided societies: Every one was capable of evil, no matter their ethnicity, religion, wealth, or poverty. There is evil in all of us. A cherokee Indian story describes it this way:- an old man was explaining to his grandson the nature of good and evil. " My son" he said" there is a fight between two wolves inside us all. One evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, greed, arrogance, self-pity, resentment, inferiority, false pride, and ego. The other is good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, humility, emphaty, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith." The grandson looked at his grandfather with fear in his eyes and asked. " Which wolf wins ?" " The one you feed ", answered the old man.

-James Madison: "If men were angels, no government would be necessary. If angels were to govern men, neither external nor  internal controls on government would be necessary. "

-Martin Luther King, Jr: " Injustice  anywhere  is a threat to justice everywhere"

Pastor Martin Niemoller( Lutheran minister who was imprisoned by the Nazis during the holocaust): when the Nazis came for communists, i did not speak out, I was not a communist. When they came for the social democrats, I did not speak out, I was not a social democrat. When they came for the trade unionists, I did notspeak out , I was not a trade unionist. When they for me, there was no one left to speak out."

- One knows how war begins, but no one knows how it will end.

When i finished reading the last sentence, i just felt like telling dictators and autocrates all over the world:" à bon entendeur, salut !"But,unfortunately they seem not to have ordinary human<br /> beings's minds, that is maybe the reason why they become presidents.....

God sleeps in Rwanda, because during the day HE is busy somewhere else. But how and why did-he allow the human catastrophy to happen in Rwanda?
